My head hurts....

Well, Spring break is over and I am back doing med school stuff. All the extra studying I had planned went out the door between working a lot and the African Death Flu I have somehow acquired. Worse, I feel like I am behind in everything already and I can't seem to get moving... mainly because it feels like an angry sadistic dwarf is beating the inside of my eyes with a hammer. I desperately want to get to the gym, but right now dealing with lights and loud sounds sucks. Adults aren't supposed to get ear infections. Yes I am pissy.

GARY GYGAX DIES!!!!! - 20+ level Cleric saught for Resurrection spell!

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.

He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.

Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.

Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said.

"It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."

Dungeons & Dragons players create fictional characters and carry out their adventures with the help of complicated rules. The quintessential geek pastime, it spawned a wealth of copycat games and later inspired a whole genre of computer games that's still growing in popularity.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Besides his wife, Gygax is survived by six children.

The Arnold Fitness Expo 2007

Nick and I went to the Arnold Fitness Expo 2007 in Columbus, Ohio and had an awesome guys day out.  There were tons of people there and more than a few who decided that less is more where clothing is concerned.  Sadly for some of them, it was a bad decision.  There were, however, a lot of vendors there happily distributing swag and we had to pick up some.  One day someone will make a protein bar that doesn't taste like ______ (insert rubber/plastic/chemicals/%&#!)


The Strongman competition was great.  We met Phil Phister the 2006 World's Strongest Man and he was a really great guy... and very tall.   We almost got to meet Bill Kazmier, but the fitness and figure ladies came in and he was called in to help.  You go Bill..... You go.....  I am sure that is was a grueling and arduous task...  Lucky Bastard.....

Nick had a great time too..   Let's see just how good:



Here is the martial arts expo there just before the staff katas were unleashed.  I had to leave before I saw someone's eye taken out.



There was also a huge grappling/wrestling area there.  What you can't see here is a 120 lb woman absolutely owning her opponent.  I saw her pick her opponent up off the ground and plant her in the mat in less than 20 seconds.  I dare anyone to piss her off.


We came across this strange vibrating device.  Rather than give someone a jolly good time, it actually helps stretch muscles.  I tried it out.... 15 minutes later they kicked me off and called security...  actually it works!  I tried it on my calves and I could seriously tell a big difference.

Nick has decided he likes the color yellow now....

Nick also liked the GAMMA girls.


Here we have Alexis Skye 6 feet, 4 and 7/8 inches tall, she is the world's tallest runway and bikini model from Gamma-O with Nick.  I have to say that she was absolutely the nicest and friendliest woman there.  She gave him a hat, an autographed photo, and tips on how to navigate the convention.   


Nick enjoyed the bodybuilding.com booth immensely.  Sadly he had to be tazed when he accidentally downed a case of energy drinks.


Why yes, she is wearing a form fitting rubber bondage fitness suit.  You're welcome.


Nick made a friend while I registered for free stuff.


Nick got to meet Mr. Olympia FRANK ZANE!!!!!!!!!!


Nick commented that their booties looked like our angora rabbits..   Cottontop  NOOOOO!!!!!

As you can see, there was a HUGE turnout for the strongman contest.

Front row?   Why yes I got us in the front row...


The Yoke weighed in at over 1,200lbs.  And, yes, those are Hummer tires on the side.


In the end a good time was had by all.  Father and Son bonding day: SUCCESS
